Erik Esckilsen will be on Sabbatical during the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 Semesters
Erik Esckilsen has been a Champlain College instructor since 1997, teaching such courses as creative writing, digital storytelling, journalism, rhetoric, and transmedia storytelling, as well as courses on the intersection of art, aesthetics, and politics. He is the author of three novels for young-adult readers. His articles and essays have appeared in the Boston Globe, Entertainment Weekly, Inside Higher Education, Seven Days, and other periodicals. He also produces scholarly work on film topics and writes plays. Along with his writing practice, he has worked extensively as an editor with a variety of periodicals and organizations.
Esckilsen holds a BA in Writing and Government from St. Lawrence University, an MA in English Composition from San Francisco State University, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Bowling Green State University.
An Object of Affection
The kid who bought this guitar, with money earned flipping burgers in town, wasn't sure he could or would go to college. Now this artifact from the distant past reminds me never to take for granted any opportunity to learn. That's why I teach.
